our story

early beginnings

How did I discover a passion for wine before turning it into a thriving business as South West London's premium independent wine merchant?

Some of the blame lies with my grandparents!

Growing up, I was lucky enough to spend many of my early summers down at their small Somerset vineyard. It was manna from heaven for an inquisitive young boy, with the highlight of each year being the summer harvest.

During this time, a great social gathering of family and friends would come together. I loved being around the laughter, the energy; all the general bonhomie that went hand in hand with the hard work of the harvest. I didn't know it then, but this would prove to be the start of my life's love affair with wine.

learning the ropes

My wine education took a step further forward working at a Bordeaux winery during my French A-level exchange.

It was here that I got to really understand the workers' sense of community, how the passion behind the wine mattered, not to mention the opportunity of tasting a wide selection of the region's finest wines.

But it was whilst at university that I had what you could call my "lightbulb" moment. Having joined a local wine-tasting course, I was persuaded to try exotic wines that I had never even heard of before, let alone tasted. It was a revelation. There was an exciting new world out there that I needed to discover.

Well and truly bitten by the wine bug and despite the overtures of getting "a proper career" I threw myself headlong into the wine trade. I was determined to learn from the ground up and worked every job I could lay my hands on: from delivery driver to bookkeeper, from wine buyer to salesman.

taking the plunge

But after several years I was faced with a career-changing decision. Should I stay within the comfort zone of the wine trade's predominantly mass-produced wine, or follow my dream and see what other wines were really out there?

I took a leap into the unknown and founded my own business. I've never looked back.

revelstoke wines today

Over ten years later, Revelstoke Wines has grown from its humble one-man band origins into a dedicated team that shares my original passion of sourcing distinctive wines for people to buy and enjoy.

We are committed to giving small, independent winemakers as much prominence in our business as possible.

We do this because by working together, ultimately, we believe it enables you to buy better bottles of wine.

Our retail sales, corporate hospitality and trade clients continue to grow, as does our standing in South West London and the surrounding area.

We really believe that good wines are something that should be enjoyed by everyone. And there is a whole world of talented winemakers and their wines out there, just waiting to be discovered.

It feels like our work has only just begun.
